An Historic Day

During the election day coverage on November 4, I saw a little boy holding a sign which read "Rosa sat, so Martin could walk, so Obama could run, so our children can fly." I now have a daughter, and she and I just witnessed history on television!

Do I look like my daddy right now or what?

Two months old today!

Alexis, your personality continues to grow, and with it, so do our hearts. You are so much more alert, and we find that we could spend hours watching you smile at us and listening to you coo. You are such a happy baby, and you love to look at mommy and daddy, out the window, at the television and at the fireplace. Ceiling fans always get a smile out of you, and you are so happy sitting up or looking over our shoulders. You have begun to notice yourself in the mirror and have great fun grinning at the beautiful little girl you see in the reflection.

Each day seems to lead to a new discovery for you. Right now, you are fascinated by your hands. While they haven't gone in your mouth yet, it's just a matter of time. You LOVE to be on your changing table and can't help but grin and giggle each time we put you there. And those legs are always kicking. We have a hard time keeping you still long enough to change your diaper. It seems you're just too eager to explore the world around you to sit still. What fun you seem to be having as you stare up at us. You love napping on your boppy pillow, and when you're awake on your tummy, you always test out those arms. You have had your first babysitters (nanny and grampa), your first holiday season, your first walk in the stroller, you went out to dinner with us, have had several playdates, you helped us welcome in a new year, and next weekend, you'll join me on a trip to NH.  And all this excitement and activity must tucker you out as you slept for seven hours three nights this week - hurray!

At your seven-week doctor's appointment, you weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces and were 21 inches tall. You're still a peanut, but you're growing by the day. Dr. Homa commented on your strong grip, and we are so proud of our determined little girl. Lexi, you bring such happiness and joy to our lives. How will you grow and change in your third month? We can hardly wait to find out.

All our love always,
Mom and Dad

Holiday Happenings

How memorable the holiday season was this year having Alexis to share it with! In fact, Lexi's big debut 10 days early allowed her to be with us for her daddy's favorite day. Hosting our family, complete with our new baby girl, for the first time in this house made Daddy's favorite holiday even more special. Nothing beats a day dedicated to food, wine and most important, family. With Alexis here, we couldn't help but count our blessings.

Home to New Jersey for Christmas! Lexi's first road trip was to Sparta and Chester to celebrate with family and friends. While she had no interest in Santa or her gifts this year and won't understand for years to come the true meaning behind this celebration, we all felt so thankful that our little peanut was here to share in the merriment. Alexis slept like a champ on the way home, resigned peacefully to being passed from person to person and reminded us that the best and most cherished gifts cannot be purchased in any store.
