California Dreaming

There's nothing Vic and I love more
than being mom and dad.
But every once in a while,
it's nice to take a short little break
from being mom and dad.
We decided our 40th birthdays
were just such an occasion
and snuck away to dreamy SoCal.
Our days were spent in Laguna, Del Mar,
La Jolla and San Diego,
and we had such a wonderful time
exploring this part of California.
The weather was perfect as everyone
promised, the setting was so picturesque,
the towns were all charming,
and it was a great place to relax, recharge
and be reminded of how our family
came to be a family in the very first place.
We especially loved L'Auberge Del Mar -
what a stunning hotel
nestled right in the center of town,
with views of the Pacific Ocean out our balcony.
And Jake's became a favorite lunch stop -
there's not much in the whole wide world
that beats fresh seafood, a glass of rosé
and the sounds of the ocean.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit,
missed our girls,
and were so grateful to Nanny for holding
down the fort while we were away.
Happy 40th to me and early 40th to Vic.

Taylor Swift

For Lexi's 10th Birthday,
we surprised her
a few weeks early
with tickets to the Taylor Swift
concert.
Ryleigh got to join in on the fun,
as we rode to AT&T Stadium in style.
The girls enjoyed it all,
the energy, the songs, the performances,
the food, treats, pomp and circumstance of it all.
A special shout out goes to Ryleigh,
who hung with the big girls until 1 am,
coughing the whole time,
but never once letting that get her down.
It was a really fun evening,
and a perfect choice for the girls'
very first concert experience!
T Swizzle does not disappoint.

A Couple Big Birthdays

Bailey and I sure were excited to celebrate
our 1st and 40th Birthdays this fall.
The girls' staycation at The Statler,
and Bailey's doggie cake
made the celebrations very special.
The family version of Nailed It
was also a highlight of the weekend.
