Sweet Spring

Summer '15 is so close we can almost taste it...
but first, here's a reminder of a really sweet spring.
It'll be our last one spent here in University Park,
so we tried to fill it with fun.

Field Day

Miss Smith's Superstars got their first taste of field day this week.
The gloomy weather that Dallas can't seem to shake
forced the event to take place in the school gym instead of outside,
but the kids all still had a blast.
Charlie, from class, and his mom hosted everyone before school
for donuts, juice and to load the kiddos up with class spirit.
There was music blasting and opposing classes racing over for
some good hearted games of tag.
Then, the festivities kicked off with a school-wide parade,
pictures with the UP Panther,
and then some classic competition - teacher toll paper roll,
standing in a line and moving the ball from front to back -
over the head and through the legs,
and then an obstacle course.
Miss Smith's class competed against another kinder class,
and Lexi was thrilled they won two out of three games.
Being inside, Field Day was short but sweet this year -
still...what a fun tradition!

Dance Recital

At long last, after months of practicing
and a long afternoon spent rehearsing,
Lexi's ballet and tap recital arrived.
She took class with Miss Lisa again this year -
along with two of her PreK besties.
The girls are at different elementary schools,
so every Tuesday was a chance for them
(and their moms) to catch up.
For tap, the girls danced to "Boogie Shoes".
Their favorite part was, without a doubt, their black feather skirts.
The ballet dance, which the girls really rocked,
was to "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

After the rehearsal, we took some pictures outside on the SMU campus
before returning later that night for the real deal.
What a fun year it was with these sweet ballerinas!
And...as much as our girl absolutely loved being up on stage performing,
she has requested a break from dance next year to focus on other sports and activities.
Good thing Ryleigh still loves ballet class -
so I can be a dance mom for at least a little longer :)

My Sunshine

You (both) are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear,
how much I love you
Please don't take me sunshine away
These two girls made me a mama,
and I am forever grateful.

Oldie but goodie

There's nothing like old friends
to ensure a night of laughs, memories shared
and new memories made.
We are so grateful that some of our Fairfield favorites
paid us a visit last weekend.
We can always count on a fantastic time with the Emmotts.
