Actually, "Under Contract" to be more exact.
We are slated to close on our home May 31st.
So it looks like we are moving to Dallas!
Talk about a mix of emotions.
Of course there is the sadness...
to leave a home we love, a town we love, friends and family we love,
and the routine that we are so used to and so happy with here in Fairfield.
We can no longer just hop in the car to see the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
All of that is so very hard to put into words.
We moved here as newlyweds from NYC.
We bought our first home here.
We made our best friends here.
We started our family here.
We found a preschool we adored here.
We established our own roots here.
Big events...life changing events all happened here, in Fairfield.
It's such a fantastic town.
Quintessential New England feel.
Right on the Long Island Sound.
Beaches and parks and playgrounds every where you look.
A charming downtown area packed with restaurants, boutiques, shops, etc.
Young families all starting out here,
older families who have been here for generations.
Just a train ride away from Manhattan.
It's a fantastic town.
BUT...along with the goodbyes that we will be saying
comes a new adventure for our family in Dallas.
Vic will be assuming what we hope is a great new position with his current company.
His work day ends an hour earlier due to the time change.
His drive to work will be just a few minutes long.
We will no longer again have to deal with Snow-maggedon.
We found an equally charming area there that we believe could be our new "home".
We have some friends down there who are helping us every step of the way.
We have been invited to join a playgroup from afar.
We found a new preschool that's ready to welcome our girls with open arms.
Preschool moms down there are inviting us on play dates and driving by homes
we are interested in to offer feedback.
People seem just plain nice down there.
And Dallas itself has a lot to offer -
lots of warm, sunny days,
lots of restaurants, boutiques and shops.
An arts district.
A downtown district.
Professional sports to enjoy just around the corner
(though we'll still root for our Giants!)
A slightly slower pace.
Southern hospitality mixed with lots of Northern transplants like us.
Vic and I are "glass half full people".
Sure, change is hard.
Starting over is hard.
Saying goodbye will have me crying for days.
But, it's also an exciting new beginning.
And we're only a plane ride away!!
