Spring Breaking it

About two weeks ago, all Dallas area schools had Spring Break.
Colorado ski resorts, Texas ranches and Cabo beaches are the hot spots to head to from here.
This year, however, we stuck close to home.
It was really pretty wonderful not having to rush around each and every day.
No school drop offs, no practices, no carpools, no activities, empty parking spaces all over town and
no problem getting restaurant reservations…
just what we all needed to recharge our batteries
and gear up for the final few months before the lazy days of summer!
Here's what our week looked like:

 Sydney's Hawaiian birthday party

Lexi was excited to show her swimming skills to Harrison

A trip to the Perot Museum for the littles

 Rylee's (as in, Ryleigh's friend) birthday picnic lunch at the Arboretum...

 followed by her party (and our girls' first experience)

at Chuck E. Cheese

 When it's 75 degrees out, a trip to Dairy Queen seems essential

 Frozen is finally out on video…which means endless "Let It Go" sing-a-longs around here.

Imagine how excited Vic is when he has to sing Kristoph's lines with Lexi :)

 Another day, another frozen yogurt stop

 We decided we shouldn't let the back yard here at our rental house go to waste, 

so we installed a swing set for the girls.

This lady now spends nearly every free moment swinging.

I taught her how to jump off the swing,

and my cool factor definitely rose a few notches.

 They love to play "restaurant" and "cookie shop" together these days.

Pretty sweet that Ryleigh is now old enough to tag along with the big girls. 

And then the week got even better when Elizabeth flew to town for a visit!

We spent our days driving her around Dallas, 

visiting the Klyde Warren Park, 

enjoying some UVA basketball,

checking out the Flight Museum for Cody's birthday party,

having dinners out on the town,

and just catching up.

She brought Lexi some bangle bracelets and an everyday scarf - 

which haven't been taken off yet.

March Madness

We interrupt the Land of Lexi and Ryleigh, for this very exciting news:

Virginia can now call themselves ACC Champs for the first time in 38 years.
And, adding to the excitement,
they're a #1 seed in the tournament which kicked off today!
Our brackets are filled out,
Vic and his colleagues have been hard at work watching the earliest games,
I've been practicing our more popular college cheers with the girls,
and I'm ensuring Lexi roots for the correct team when she watches alongside me.
We'll also be throwing our support Syracuse's way over the next few weeks.
Time to go dancing ;)

Before too much time passes by,
here are a few pictures from our Valentine's Day weekend.
Beth sent these adorable Crewcuts shirts from Connecticut,
and it seemed like the perfect excuse to wear them.

The girls share my enthusiasm for this holiday -
showing sheer delight over all the pink, all the flowers and candy and chocolate,
and of course all the Valentine's!
Lexi had a sweet little party at school, and she was all business
carefully addressing each card to her classmates and attaching a heart-shaped lollipop.
And, you better believe she was oh-so-excited
to receive a Valentine from her boyfriend Harrison.

But Daddy's shoes aren't  ready to be filled just yet…
look what he left as a surprise in each girl's rooms that morning.
