The weather for the last month has been nothing short of amazing.
Cool, comfortable mornings, warm sunny afternoons,
and the perfect outdoor play weather during happy hour.
We have been doing our best to soak it all in -
before those pesky mosquitoes and steamy days mark their return.
Here's a little snapshot of what we're loving this Spring:
Bowl & Barrel - not your run of the mill bowling alley -
think draft beers, cheese plates, college games on tv
and all the latest tunes playing while you bowl with your buddies
All the makings for a fun Saturday evening
First time manicures
Ryleigh had to tag along with mom one afternoon,
so she was treated to her very own $5 manicure.
I still can't believe she sat still
She was so darn proud of her little pink piggies
and showed anyone who was kind enough to look and gush.
Spring Soccer
The Honeybees went from the bad news bears this fall
to an undefeated PreK girls' team this Spring!!
A little experience under their belts
and the arrival of one very talented new teammate
made this team a lot of fun to watch all Spring long
This!
Ryleigh flat out adores her big sister
and tries to copy her every move.
For her part, Lexi is always watching out for her little sis
and ensuring she follows the rules of the house.
Not much makes us happier than seeing their bond
grow stronger by the day!
Our first preschool carnival
(Mommy was, what else, the photography chair…
and she's sure glad that is over!)
Again, look at that sibling love.
The fact that they finally got to the skating rink -
and that Lexi really enjoyed every minute this year!
These school friends.
Lexi and I are so sad they are all headed off
to different elementary schools next year.
Luckily, we signed up for dance class
with a few of these little ladies for the fall.
Tuesday afternoon playgroup.
Ryleigh is making her first friends
and getting lots of practice on "not pushing"
Mommy enjoys the company as much as she does.
There are about 15 mom/kiddo duos total.
We take turns hosting at one another's houses each week.
The fact that Uncle John has a new client in Dallas
and is now able to squeeze visits to our house in after business.
For his first dinner in town, we headed to (where else) Mi Cocina.
Parent Observation day at dance class.
Not much is sweeter than watching a group of 5 year olds practice their
ballet and tap routines.
Watching one teach the other all about the fun in shadows
All things Frozen - still!
This is the first of what I imagine will be many
Frozen themed birthday parties
Watching their friendship grow,
especially knowing how much their daddies mean to each other
This PreK teacher and class.
I couldn't be happier with the preschool we chose,
the teacher we received and the great friends Lexi has made this year.
It has been such a positive experience
and made her transition to Dallas seamless.
We are so very thankful! See what happens when you follow your gut?!
We are also pretty pumped about the school she's headed to this fall.
Last week every incoming kindergartener was called in to meet with the teachers.
The school uses the info gathered to help balance out each class and
try to pair the students with a teacher who will help them each shine.
Can't forget about this one and her MDO program.
Once again, she's still learning the rules and working really hard
on not pushing her friends and taking turns with toys.
But when I pick her up, she's always all smiles
and eager to tell me about Nick, Hayden and Davis -
who seem to be her favorites in the class.
We also love playground time.
Ryleigh is no casual observer watching the big kids play.
These days, she demands to sit on the big kid swing,
and go down the big kid slide,
and show us how she can hang from any bar she can find.
She plays ice cream shop with the wood chips with Lexi,
and races to find anything she can turn into a balance beam.
She is a girl on the go!
Chick-fil-A
I cannot figure out why these don't exist in the Northeast.
Between the waffle fries, the ice cream cones and the indoor playground,
this place is the holy grail of "fast food"
The UP Carnival
Great way to spend a Friday evening
The fact that her very first true dance recital is just around the corner!
I know I am totally biased,
but tell me this isn't one of the sweetest ballerinas you ever did see.
Hosting at our rental house.
It may not be the house of our dreams, but until we decide where we ultimately want to buy,
we are going to take advantage of its great back yard (by Dallas standards).
Over the past few weeks,
we've been enjoying inviting playgroup over and our friends over…
this past weekend was a casual little Derby party.
I think the kids had as much fun as the parents
Beating the heat with some good old fashioned sprinkler fun
