Home Sweet Home

No sooner did school let out for summer,
than it was moving day!

While the actual process of moving is never much fun,
all four of us were thrilled to get settled in the new house.
For nearly a year now, we've been driving back and forth,
going to design appointments and site visits
and inspections.
Finally, the fun part was here...moving into our
"home sweet home" in Southlake!

We are just about totally unpacked and
making the house truly feel like our home is well under way.
We've enjoyed getting to know all our new neighbors,
there are so many children the same age as our girls,
it's wonderful.
They just open the door and have instant playmates.
There are also quite a few families from NJ and CT,
so we have a common bond. Many have been so kind, dropping off food,
taking the girls to their house to play,
hosting us at their pools on especially warm days,
and answering our many questions.
We knew quite a bit about the town, the new schools,
summer camp and all the essentials before we officially got here,
so it's been a fairly seamless process.

We especially enjoy after-dinner bike and scooter rides,
and perhaps the most unexpected surprise is the
wonderful view we have of the sunset each evening.

School's Out for Summer

May 15th and May 29th were the girls' last days of school.
It's amazing how much they've learned and grown this year.
They both look so much older to me.
Summer is well under way now,
and we are all very excited!

A League of Their Own

Vic and I were pretty excited for Lexi to begin
her very first teeball season this spring.
We both have great memories from our years
spent playing in Sparta.

Once she heard that a bunch of her kindergarten
friends were all on the same Ladybugs team,
she was sold!

At this age, the YMCA still uses a tee,
so we spent a few Saturdays practicing out in the back yard.
It took Lexi a game or two to remember to run after hitting the ball,
but otherwise she was pretty into it.

There's still a lot to learn when it comes to fielding,
mainly, the girls all ran to the ball then didn't know who
should be the one to pick it up. 
But batting and running the bases went well,
and the first season was sure a sweet one.
Plus, they definitely looked the part -
with ladybug bows and personalized equipment buckets -
which is super important when you're 6.

End of Year Party

Last week the sun finally returned -
and just in time for the kinder end-of-school party.
We had lunch on the sport court and then
introduced the kiddos to a bunch of the old time classics -
freeze dance, limbo, water balloon toss and potato sack races.

The celebration was capped off by a visit from the

Kona Ice Truck at the park across the street.
What a sweet celebration of the sweetest kindergarten year.

Olivia, you were missed,
and we hope you're finally feeling all better.
