2 New Developments

Two new introducers have descended upon the Hamilton household recently: chubby cheeks and drool! Lexi is turning into an adorable chubby baby right before our eyes. Her cheeks are now just as pinchable as her daddy's once were, and the poor child is smothered in kisses all day and night. She does a good job of putting up with mom and dad, and last night she had even more attention since Nanny was visiting. Those cheeks and the little rolls on her legs certainly make us smile. 

And, she's clearly right on track with another three month milestone - saliva! These days bibs are big for us as Alexis is a drooling machine. Not only does she dribble onto most of her outfits, but she's also learned how to make razzberry noises, and she gets a big kick out of herself. Amazing how the littlest changes mean so much to new parents.

Lexi's First Class

We ventured to the local library today to take part in a nursery rhyme/book reading class for "pre-walkers". Granted, Alexis is also a pre-crawler and a pre-sitter, but she enjoyed herself all the same. And, it was a great refresher for me of the nursery rhymes I'm sure I will be singing in the coming weeks/months/years. Can't wait for next week! 

Cantor Girl

Alexis ventured down to Darien on Friday to visit her daddy at the office. She was quite the hit with all his coworkers and loved to sit right on his desk. On the drive home, though, she did confide that she prefers the bears in her toy basket to those in the market of late. 

I think I can, I think I can

Alexis decided it was time to debut her new skill for the video camera this morning. And to ensure she entertains her viewers, she rolled over in both directions. Way to go Sweet Pea!

3 Months (and one day) old!

Three months old already?! Where has the time gone? Over the long weekend, daddy and I packed away your newborn clothes. While it was certainly a little bit sad, you have grown and developed so much over the past month, that we know there are many new memories to be made with you and lots more fun to have with you. 

At your 11 week doctor's appointment, you weighed 11 pounds, 9 ounces and were 23.5 inches long. Judging from the chubby legs and growing belly we are currently witnessing, you've grown a good bit since then! And oh what a fun month it has been with you, Alexis. You are certainly not our sleepy, snuggly, delicate newborn anymore. These days, it seems you can hardly sit still. From squirming on your changing table, to sticking your fists in your mouth any chance you get, to testing out the whole "standing thing" when we support you, to sitting up like the big girl you are in your bumbo seat, you seem to be fascinated by the world around you and clearly want to explore it. In fact, as I write this post one day after your three month birthday (please forgive me, but I was in the hospital with food poisoning after a night out for sushi with daddy and friends), you reached a big milestone - you rolled over for the first time! You showed me how you roll to your right this morning, and then to impress daddy, you rolled to the left side this evening. All that practice with him clearly paid off. 

Perhaps even more exciting than all of these "firsts" however, are the smiles and coos you continue to shower upon us. What a happy baby you seem to be! You greet us every morning with such a big grin and squeal when we stand over your crib. You may never truly know how special that simple act makes us feel, Lexi. And, when we talk to you and look you straight in the eye, you like to try and carry on a conversation with us. You babble on and on until you get the hiccups from all that talking. We suspect you may be an early speaker if this baby talk is any indication :) 

This month you went out to dinner in a restaurant with us, went to the beach in town, went on several walks with your girlfriends, celebrated your first Valentine's Day, went to your first birthday party,  had Grandpa Tom babysit you and went on a carousel ride with me and your cousin Courtney. As you get older, there is so much more for us to explore with you, and we can hardly wait. 

Happy three months, sweet Alexis. We love you more every day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Alexis seemed to enjoy her first Valentine's Day! She woke up smiling in her crib as has become the norm these days. After receiving a sweet card from her very first Valentine, daddy, she spent the day running errands with him and then attending her first birthday party at The Little Gym. By late afternoon, her Grandpa Tom had arrived, and she opened her gift from mom and dad (a cute bathing suit for summer vacation). While she was thrilled, all she really wanted to do was eat those hands (see below)! The smiles faded once she realized mom and dad had snuck off for a dinner in Westport, however. After about an hour of crying, she finally tuckered herself out and slept peacefully in her swing while Tom sat quiet as a church mouse, trying not to make a peep.  When we came home, we fell in love all over again with our little lady. Lots of hugs and kisses were in store for our tiniest Valentine. Thank you Cupid.

Strolling with the ladies

The temperature hit 60 degrees earlier this week, so Lexi joined her girlfriends for walks in the stroller. First, she visited downtown Westport with Tessa. The sun was shining, and the ladies snoozed. Then, we went back to the Morley's house for the mandatory pictures. Later in the day, Alexis joined her neighbor Madison for a walk. Check out their matching Bundle Me's - looks cozy! 

Good thing she's much too young to know that she has a long way to go in the hair department compared to her buddies.

12 weeks old, and our chatterbox strikes again - and leaves a little surprise for mom and dad at the end of our conversation...

Springlike Sunday

What do you do when it's 55 degrees in February? 

Here in Fairfield, you hit the beach. We joined friends Corey, Laura and Baby Madison at Jennings Beach today to introduce our little ladies to the Long Island Sound and the sand. It was a bit chilly for them still, so they slept most of the time, but all four parents (and the Geraghty's dog) enjoyed ourselves. 

Here's hoping that Spring is just around the corner! 

"Learning to fly, and I ain't got wings..."

Well, she can't fly yet - but the girl can sit! Alexis decided yesterday that it was time to look at the world from a different vantage point. I'm excited for her (and my) newfound independence. Guess she's proving that she is no longer our newborn anymore. 

Little Girl Grows!

At her 11 week appointment today, Lexi weighed in at 11 pounds, 9 ounces (50th percentile) and was 23.5 inches (75th percentile). Our peanut has grown in leaps and bounds since her previous appointment and is beginning to become the tiniest bit chubby! We're so proud of our sweet pea and are absolutely loving this age. Her smiles get bigger and more frequent each day, she loves to chat and coo, she never met a face she didn't like, she is starting to reach for things, and she loves putting those hands in her mouth. Add to that the fact that she's sleeping seven hours at night right now, and you have two parents who are bursting with love for our little lady. Below are a few recent pictures of Alexis.
