Happy 5 Months to the little girl who has us wrapped around her finger!
Alexis, what a wonderful month it has been. You make our days even more fun and memorable, and you fill our hearts with such love and pride. What a sweet, happy baby girl you are. Your smiles and coos are getting more and more frequent, and you fill the house with squeals of delight. You are finding both your voice and your giggle, and we simply love to hear both. You really only fuss when you are over-tired or over-hungry, and you seem to enjoy being around friends and family (you sometimes just need a few minutes to warm up to new faces).
This month we've really seen you begin to play. You adore your jumperoo and test those chubby little legs more each day - bouncing from side to side, up, down and all around. You also enjoy spending time in your exersaucer. You prefer Mr. Bear to all other stuffed animals, but you are happy to grab anything you can get your hands and inevitably, mouth, upon. Your grip is quite strong, and you have begun showing mommy and daddy that you truly recognize and love us. You now put your arm around our necks or our arms when we hold you, and if you hear our voices in the distance, you will always search for us and smile when you find us. Looking in the mirror always results in a big grin from you, so you must love your own face too!
This month we have witnessed a number of new milestones from you. You have begun rolling from your back onto your tummy, so we can no longer leave you unattended on the changing table, the bed, the couch, etc. This has also presented a bit of a challenge at nighttime as you sometimes seem to be dreaming of rolling and attempt to do so in your crib. We've gotten a kick out of watching this process on the monitor, but when it happens in the middle of the night, it's not quite as entertaining! We believe you are ready to be weaned of the swaddle and doing so is our latest project. You are getting close to sitting by yourself and can now balance for a bit without any support. When we give you a hand, you pull yourself up to a standing position - there is simply too much to explore for you to stay still very long. You seem to enjoy the oatmeal that's part of your dinner routine, and taking a bath is now a favorite activity - for both you AND daddy. Easter Sunday this year also marked your baptism, and we were so proud of our little angel on this very special day.
Alexis, we are so thankful to have you in our lives, and we welcome each new day with you with excitement and enthusiasm.
All our love,
Mom and Dad
