The Checkup

Alexis - At your 18-month well visit, you weighed 24 pounds, 12 ounces - 45th percentile - and just 12 ounces more than your visit back in February. Not all that surprising since you run all the time now and have become a bit of a picky eater.

You are 32.5 inches tall - 70th percentile. (Grandpa Tom, I will ask at the next visit whether these %s are gender specific or not. Good question!)

Your doctor described you as "fun" and "gentle" and thought you looked great. She was happy to hear all the talking/attempts at talking you were doing at the appointment (we told you "shhh" more than a few times) and said that from now through two years of age, it is typical to see a word explosion, especially since you're already doing so well with your motor skills.

Fun...definitely. Gentle....the jury's still out on that one. In the span of an hour you: ripped a page out of a book in the exam room, played hide and seek behind the garbage can, got stuck under the doctor's desk, bounced around from the chair to the stool to the table, burst out of our room and into another room where a newborn baby was getting weighed, and then came home and dropped/broke your Nanny's bracelet.

When I asked your daddy if he agreed with the description, he replied, "I'd say cute and sweet." Your mommy totally agrees!
