Miss Congeniality

Alexis, here is a little recap from Saturday morning:

You joined Daddy at the gym. Workout for him, nursery for you.
You are both kind of celebrities at the Southport Raquet Club.
You were a little shy, clinging to his leg and hiding behind him at first.
An hour later, I arrived to pick you up.
I quickly scanned the room.
You were happily sitting at a picnic table with an older boy (a 4 year old).
I was immediately informed that you were so chatty. Great news.
Apparently, you climbed up onto a big girl chair...
and proceeded to wave and say hi and goodbye to EVERYONE who walked in.
When a little girl near you started crying, you tried to comfort her by offering some of your pretzels.
No dice.
So, they said you pointed to her and said uh-oh over and over. Eventually, she stopped crying.
As soon as you spotted me, you came racing over with your arms outstretched (love that!)
After some hugs, you grabbed your little blue purse, flung it over your arm, and out the door we went.
You led me to the front desk (these days you like leading the way).
But before we could head out to the parking lot, you found two squash balls and raced onto an open court.
I had to explain that the nice gentlemen didn't need another partner. Maybe next time.
You lost interest once you spotted the 4 year old boy from the nursery.
You and he held hands as we walked to the car.
Mommy smiled the whole way home.

(By the way, everyone has a different opinion about who you look like and which side of the family you take after. But in the photo below, you are the spitting image of your daddy when he was little...except with blue eyes, blonde hair and pigtails rather than a bowl cut, of course.)

You were all cute at that age, even Uncle John.
Isn't Lexi a bit young for a bfriend?:)

My little girl Lexi is so talkative now. She has lots of new words, and I love hearing her call me Nana. Happy to see that our newest grandchild has also inherited the blonde gene, and the curls make it extra sweet. Grandpa and I are looking forward to our visit this weekend.

Love, Nanny
