The first week of school

And, so, the journey begins!

You went to preschool two mornings this week, Alexis.
It's a 2's program where you make arts and crafts, learn your letters, numbers and colors,
enjoy snack and lunchtime, play on the playground and sing songs.
And....so far, so good!

There have been no tears yet for you, mommy or daddy -
though seeing you wearing your backpack and carrying your lunchbox nearly did me in.
Daddy joined us for the very first drop-off.
We put your things in your cubby, we checked your mailbox,
we brought in a family photo like we were told to, we said hello to the teachers,
and then, just like that, it was time for you to stay and us to leave.
Don't worry, we spent a few minutes watching you through the window,
making sure you were going to be okay.

On the second day, you shouted "school" when we pulled into the parking lot.
Then, you raced to the classroom door, grabbed the handle and said "open mama open".
I was told by the teachers that you are adjusting well, a good listener
and always the first to get started on the art project
(maybe your Aunt Wendy's talent has rubbed off on you?).
We are so very proud.
A big milestone for our big girl...22 months today!
You love wearing your backpack
Ready to go
Playing with your friend Addison
With the school's director, Miss Kristen
There are several criers in the room during drop-off, so it's all hands on deck
Ready for Day 2!
Daddy picked out this dress for you while we were in Newport

Alexis you are such a big girl now!! We are so happy you are enjoying your school days, you look cute as a button:) The blue dress your Daddy picked reminds us of "Madeline", Tu est une belle mademoiselle!!

How exciting for Lexi to be attending preschool and meeting new friends.

I see you know how to count and say your alphabet.
Our little granddaughter is so smart. And you are just like your mother was, wanting to wear a dress to school each day.

With love,
Nanny

I can't even deal - she is the cutest thing ever!!! Look at that little grin - she is SO ready to take on preschool!

And I LOVE her backpack - she will clearly be the most stylish girl in her class!

I assumed the only people with tears were you and Vic. Her outfits are very pretty and she looks marvelous. I love her in blue.
