Old friends

There's something really special about an old friend.
The kind of friend that you spent years dancing and cheerleading alongside.
The kind of friend that came on your family vacations each summer.
The kind of friend that introduced you to your husband back in 6th grade.
A friend that you might not see as often as you'd like, but one you can always "pick right back up with".
A friend who your parents consider to be like a daughter.

And, when that friend has twin boys,
you and your own daughter simply must be the ones at their very first playdate!

Alexis, you certainly got your baby fill recently when we visited Mason and Charlie
(along with their mommy Jessica and our dear friend Ashley).
You ran right over to them.

You shouted "babies" over and over (good thing newborns can sleep through anything).

You rocked them in their bouncy seats and tried your hardest to be gentle.

You tried to help feed them.

You also tried to steal their bottle for yourself.
And, since it was a warm day out, you kept taking off their little mittens.

And then, once you realized they couldn't really play with you just yet,
you turned your attention to their dog, Buddy, and to the ladies.

My wish for you, sweet girl, is that you will be blessed with "old friends"
...friends who have loved you and been important to you for as long as you can remember.

Friends like these two!
