Irene

Here's how we survived Hurricane Irene and life with no power:
With lots of flashlights and candles
(thanks Aunt Terry for those battery-powered candles!
Lexi loved carrying them all over the house)
by playing beauty parlor
Can you tell who painted Daddy's toenails?
And by letting off a little steam on her tricycle

Throw in a big pot of chili we could heat on the stove,
and a portable dvd player,
and that evened out sleeping in the basement
(which Lexi happened to view as a cool adventure - like only kids can)

We were some of the lucky ones, though.
Our power returned after 24 hours,
and we mainly just had lots of leaves come down.
Some friends around town are still in the dark,
and others in the Northeast faired much worse than that.
Still thinking of you all!
