We spent both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here in Dallas, just the four of us.
Kim and Chris adopted us once again, as we joined them for a lovely dinner
at Patrizio's in Highland Park Village.
When I say lovely, I mean the kind of lovely that includes 4 young children,
two of which are toddlers.
It was still a great night, and the anticipation of Christmas morning was palpable.
Highland Park Village, where the restaurant is located,
looks simply gorgeous this time of year.
Every square inch is decked out in white lights,
and it really gets you in the holiday spirit.
Here's what I got :)
rather than her and Jet.
These two really are little rascals and kindred spirits.
Jet and Ryleigh are the sweet-as-can-be charmers,
so there's hope for the two of them marrying as well.
She's growing up so fast these days.

Thank you Grandpa Tom for the balance bike and plasma ride-on car.
As you can see, they are both getting lots of use from the girls!
(As you can also see, this rental house boasts a very outdated kitchen)
are packed away in our storage unit until we get settled in our permanent home.
It wasn't worth the effort to spend hours weeding through
all the towering boxes searching for them.
So, we went with "make-your-own" stockings from Toys 'R Us this year,
and the girls didn't even notice the difference.
the real reason for the Christmas season as they grow.
Between her once-a-week church lesson at preschool,
and reminders on our part,
Lexi truly grasps this concept.
But, let's face it, she's also a 5 year old child,
and Santa currently looms large for her!
It appears that she and her sister were on his "nice" list this year.
And, never fear,
sweet Lexi ensured that her mom and dad weren't overlooked.
She carefully colored several pictures for each of us,
wrapped them up in placemats she found around the house,
tied them up with ribbon,
and hid them under the tree for us to find Christmas morning.
Love her!
and they have both been logging serious hours cruisin' our neighborhood ever since.
Ryleigh can barely reach the pedals,
but you better believe she's figured out how to work
this Barbie Jammin Jeep and her beloved new scooter.
I was a very happy girl also.

(if only she wasn't nervous about balancing)
After a wonderful, relaxing day,
it was time for what may well be a new tradition…
a horse and carriage ride around Highland Park to look at all the Christmas lights.
What a charming ride it was, through some of the loveliest streets in Dallas!
And, just like that,
it was time to get ourselves ready for a big trip up North
to continue the celebrating with the entire family!
