That's a wrap on the Diamond Dragons
fall soccer season.
It didn't end as spectacularly as cousin Matt's season
(he and his varsity team just won States!)
In our case, it was such a cold, windy morning
that both the other team and the refs were a no-show
so the girls scrimmaged each other.
Either way, it was a really fun fall season.
Lexi and her whole team learned and progressed
so much over these last few months.
Her signature move became the pull-back,
and she raced herself up and down that field
the entire team she played.
While still hesitant at times to break into a crowd,
give her the ball in a slightly open field
and she dribbled it almost the entire way down
every chance she got.
Coach Jimmy and Coach Brian ensured that practices
were both fun and organized.
No small feat with 13 first grade girls who are prone
to giggles and races and cartwheeling in the grass.
It's a compliment to them to see where this team started the season,
and how they looked playing at the end of the season.
I think all four of us will miss soccer Saturdays
at the Bob Jones Field.
