Texas Hill Country

We snuck away at the end of April
to visit Texas Hill Country for the first time
with a few friends.

Grateful to Nanny who came to watch the girls,
we were treated to some beautiful scenery
as we drove about four hours South.
Fredericksburg is the most popular town
in that area, and it is bursting with activity
and development as a series of wine vineyards
began cropping up on all the open land.

We made the most of our time away,
exploring Main Street and all its eateries,
outdoor patios and live entertainment,
then took part in a wine tour Saturday
where we stopped at several vineyards
and enjoyed tasting after tasting
along with a picnic lunch.
A good time was had by all!

And I was so grateful to have a lovely visit
with mom both before we went away
and for a few days upon our return.
Opening a bottle of wine that has a special story
is always exciting for Vic and I,
so we made sure to bring a few bottles
from our favorite vineyards,
Kuhlman and Becker home with us.
Just the other week I was at our local
Tom Thumb grocery store
and found a whole section of Kuhlman
whites in the wine aisle!
