I already posted about how wonderful old friends are.
The kind of friends who have known you since "way back when".
But you know what?
New friends are pretty special too.
Friends that just happen to move across the street from you
after you buy your very first house.
Friends who moved from Manhattan, just like you.
And pretty soon, these new friends are raking their leaves at the same time as you,
just so there's an excuse to say hi.
And then, these new friends are inviting you over for dinner and drinks.
And you stay for hours - every single weekend.
And in the blink of an eye, those new friends are becoming parents.
And before you know it, you are too.
And then you welcome daughters just one month apart.
So, of course it makes sense to go on vacation together...
back to Nantucket where you went as a little girl.
And when they have family parties, you are invited too,
because these new friends are just that...like family.
And it's hard to believe, but five years pass by.
During which time your "new" friends become some of your closest friends.
Friends whose children your own daughter will grow up alongside.
